PLANNING COMMISSION – 1300-unit “The RANCH” DEVELOPMENT – WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18
Southern California developer Richland’s ‘The Ranch’ 1,300+ house development project is moving forward with environmental review, trying to beat our “Let Antioch Voters Decide Initiative.”
This project would stretch from Kaiser on Deer Valley Rd all the way to Empire Mine Rd and cause more than 13,000 car trips per day! It’s one of the projects making up the total 4,000-8,000 houses in the entire Sand Creek area.
There will be huge impacts to wildlife, traffic, water, air quality, habitat and many other things.
COME TO THE MEETING of the Antioch Planning Commission so you can comment on the environmental review being done and let the commission know what you think of 1300 new houses (on top of 2000 already approved but not built in the city).
DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT for the project is out and its almost 3,000 pages long! Seriously. The developer/city strategy is to overwhelm you, not educate you. You don’t have to read any of it, or much of it — but you can browse it if you want. But you can look at the maps and the Executive Summary to get a sense, or look at a chapter that interests you like traffic, city services, or biology.

COMMENT DEADLINE: APRIL 27
People only have until Friday, April 27 to comment. That’s not enough time.
Come to the meeting and ASK FOR THE COMMENT DEADLINE TO BE EXTENDED another 45-90 days, share your thoughts with Commissioners and sign our initiative petition which can help stop this project.
You don’t have to be an expert. Write a note, make a short comment about how it will affect you, your community and the beautiful Antioch Hills you care about. Send it in, or appear and speak in person.
