We want to hear from you: what are you up to for Earth Day this weekend? There are lots of events in Antioch and beyond. Which one will you attend?
Pick up a petition from us before the weekend (we’re always at Food Truck Thursdays, below) and have the registered Antioch voters at your event sign (if they haven’t already).
Here are a couple of Earth Day events we know about:
1. Keep Antioch Beautiful Day – Saturday, April 21st – 8:30-11am
Volunteers will be able to check in at 8:30 am at the following 5 sites to pick up the areas surrounding them:
- City Park
- Marsh Elementary
- Park Middle School
- Prewett Community Park (Grand Plaza)
- Turner Elementary
A free volunteer ‘thank-you’ lunch will be served following the event in the Grand Plaza at the Antioch Community Center (4703 Lone Tree Way).
To sign up for the event, you may register online here or for more information call (925) 779-6137
2. Earth Day at Upper Sand Creek – Saturday April 21st – 9am-12pm – 6600 Deer Valley Rd
Join the Earth Team interns, Supervisor Diane Burgis, the Contra Costa County Flood Control District, Contra Costa Resource Conservation District, and Friends of Marsh Creek as they celebrate Earth Day!
3. Wildflower Hike, Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve – Saturday April 21st & Sunday April 22nd – 10am-12pm – upper parking lot on Somersville Rd
We hope to see you out there, and please remember to bring a petition or two so all your registered voter friends, neighbors and family that care about the Earth and Antioch’s beautiful natural lands can sign!
