TIME IS RUNNING OUT TO SAVE SAND CREEK!
Join us May 5 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at CHAPARRAL PARK AND DALLAS RANCH PARK to sign the “Let Antioch Voters Decide: The Sand Creek Area Protection Initiative”. We’re trying to get this initiative on the November 2018 ballot so that voters like you can PROTECT THIS VALUABLE LAND from destructive sprawl development.
This is a battle against the developers who want to allow more than 1,110 housing units in Sand Creek. And it’s a battle against time, which is running out to collect enough signatures to qualify the initiative. We need your signature now! Without you, Antioch will lose this precious land and wildlife habitat.
This housing proposal will add over 13,000 additional car trips every day to neighborhoods throughout your area. In addition to this threat, Antioch’s urban limit line—a boundary that marks the outer limit beyond which urban development will not be allowed—is set to expire in 2020, leaving growth decisions in the hands of City Council instead of the residents.
The initiative protects over 1,800 acres (bigger than Golden Gate Park) in Sand Creek west of Deer Valley Road. It requires a vote of residents to allow more intensive development and it establishes the urban limit line indefinitely. Sign the initiative this Saturday so you can Save Sand Creek in November.
